4 USGA champions highlight 2026 National Junior Team selections

The U.S. Golf Association announced Wednesday the members of the 2026 U.S. National Junior Team, featuring rosters of 12 boys and 12 girls from 10 states.

The U.S. National Junior Team is a pillar of the U.S. National Development Program (USNDP), which was established in 2023 to create a unified pathway designed to nurture the potential of America’s top young players. The 2026 team has two more athletes than the 2025 team, and its roster includes four USGA champions.

Mason Howell (2025 U.S. Amateur), Hamilton Coleman (2025 U.S. Junior Amateur), Tyler Mawhinney (2025 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball) and Asterisk Talley (2024 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball) are the four gems of the team, though the roster is loaded with numerous returning stars as well as up-and-coming players.

Fourteen of the 24 players were members of the 2025 team. Five of the 10 newcomers come from the USNDP’s State Junior Team program. Members of the U.S. National Junior Team receive year-round support, including coaching, analysis, sports psychology and nutritional guidance. 

"We are very excited about this group going into year three of our U.S. National Junior Team," Chris Zambri, head coach of the USNDP, said in a release. "We’ve seen tremendous growth over the first two years in our athletes and are excited to build on that momentum. We could not have had the successes we’ve had as a program without our continued support of our partners and generous donors."
