Teams Kuchar, Daly break 60 on Saturday at the 2025 PNC Championship
Two teams went sub-60 in the opening round of the 2025 PNC Championship on Saturday at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando. The duo of Matt Kuchar and his 18-year-old son, Cameron, fired a 15-under 57 to lead the way.
"Got off to an awesome start," Matt Kuchar said. "I mean, it's so much fun to kind of put a drive out in the fairway, watch Cam smash it. It's not even a consideration of whose ball we're going to use. So we have a lot of short irons in. Between his wedge game and my wedge game we ended up with a whole lot of short putts. It was a fantastic start."
The Kuchars made birdie on all but three holes, going out in 28 and finishing in 29.
"Cam is a playing great golf," Matt said. "I feel like I certainly can offer some help when he drives it as well as he does with being able to hit some short irons, wedges, chances to really have good looks at birdie. It's a really fun format for me. I picked a good partner at the Shark Shootout years ago with Harris English who hit it way by me and I got to hit a lot of short irons in. And now I feel a little bit the same having this guy be able to drive it the way he does and to try to just see how many birdies we can make."
Meanwhile, the fan-favorite Team Daly managed to get into the 50s as well. John Daly and his son, John Daly II, signed for a 13-under 59.
"We didn't get off to the best of starts," the senior Daly said. "We were even par after two and the Kuchars got hot quick and we kind of fed off them a little bit. It was just one of those great days, good ball striking. Like I said, if I could have given Little John a few better reads on the greens I think we could have went a little lower. He played great; I never really play that great, but that's all right in my life right now."
John Daly II, more commonly known as "Little John," is a standout golfer for the University of Arkansas, where he won two collegiate events this past season.
"Just my attitude has gotten a little better and just not really caring," Daly II said. "Just going out there and having fun. At the end of the day golf doesn't define me. Just happy to be able to play every day and go out there and have fun."
But while he might be playing carefree, fun golf, his dad says he'll be leaning on Little John in Sunday's final round.
"He's the horse and the saddle," the elder Daly said of his son. "That's all there is to it."
Annika Sorenstam's son has the hottest putter in the field at the PNC
Will McGee, the 14-year-old son of Annika Sorenstam, is absolutely shredding the greens at Ritz-Carlton GC on Saturday at the PNC Championship. He and his mom are 10 under as of 4 p.m. ET. Check out some of these putts he's dropped:
Cameron Kuchar goes coast-to-coast for birdie

Leaderboard bunching up behind Team Price
Nick Price and Greg Price are still holding onto the solo lead as they come down the home stretch on day one. Team Price is 8 under through 14 holes as of 1:45 p.m. ET and lead by one over a congested leaderboard.
There's a four-way tie for second at 7 under: Team Daly, Team Love, Team Stricker and Team Kuchar.
Team Leonard off to a hot start
Justin Leonard and his 19-year-old son Luke are 5 under through seven holes as 12:50 p.m. ET, in a tie for second with Davis Love III and his son, Dru. Luke Leonard was occupied earlier this week but still managed to make it down to Orlando to team up with his dad:
