Europe wins Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children's

A new event with unusual formats also had a rare mid-tournament day off but the Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children's was back at it Sunday to determine a champion.

This unique event is being played for a second time and features three teams – the U.S., Europe and an International squad – facing off in a sixsomes, sixballs and singles in a blend of Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup events. Each team has six players, each with a playing captain, and all six play each session over a nine-hole match.

Who won the 2025 Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children's?

Two years ago, the U.S. squad won the Cup. This time around, the Americans finished last. Team Europe garnered 230 points, with the Internationals well back in second with 213 ½ points. The U.S. managed 204 ½.

After Friday's second round, Europe led with 109 ½ points with the U.S. in second with 108 points and the Internationals bringing up the rear with 106 ½ points.

Sunday features singles matches, with 12 different head-to-heads spread over two sessions at Feather Sound Golf Club in Clearwater, Florida. The results from the afternoon session:

  • Mike Weir, International, 12; Jerry Kelly, U.S., 8; Darren Clarke, Europe, 7
  • K.J. Choi, International 10 ½; Justin Leonard, U.S., 9 ½; Thomas Bjorn, Europe, 7
  • Jason Caron, U.S., 11; Miguel Angel Jimenez, 9 ½; Mark Hensby, International, 6 ½
  • Soren Kjeldsen, Europe, 12; Y.E. Yang, International, 9; Steve Flesch, U.S., 6
  • Bernhard Langer, Europe, 12; Steven Alker, International, 8; Steve Stricker, U.S. 7

Europe won seven of the 12 Sunday singles matches. Jason Caron won each of his singles matches, the lone American to earn any points on the final day. Caron also helped his twosome win points in both sessions on Saturday.
