Brooks Koepka's LIV Golf status for 2026 in the air, per report
Is Brooks Koepka's time playing for LIV Golf done?
There's a chance he may not play the upcoming LIV Golf season, though his contract with the league doesn't expire until 2026, Sports Business Journal's Josh Carpenter reported Monday, citing four golf sources.
The report was part of an interview with LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil, who told SBJ, "I know you’re not going to want to hear this one, just the individual players, and this goes back to our policy, we’re just going to run it through. So, we haven’t made any announcements on players, but he is signed for 2026.”
Koepka's future with the league has been questioned for months. Earlier this year, Koepka said, "I've got a contract obligation out here to fulfill, and then we'll see what happens," and he also said "I think we all hoped it would have been a little bit further along, and that's no secret," when asked about the direction of the league. "No matter where you're at, you always hope everything is further along. But they're making progress, and it seems to be going in the right direction."

If Koepka were to spurn LIV Golf in 2026, he would still be able to play all four majors thanks to his win at the 2023 PGA Championship. He also is a DP World Tour member and would have access to those events.
As far as a return to the PGA Tour, he likely wouldn't be eligible to play until August 2026. Former LIV players have had to wait one calendar year since the last competition day on LIV Golf to return to the PGA Tour, which mean Koepka wouldn't be eligible until after the 2026 Tour Championship.
And even if he were to return, there's questions whether he would be forced to pay a fine or other disciplinary action.
But if Koepka moves on from LIV Golf, his franchise, Smash GC, would be in search of a new captain. Team members include Talor Gooch, Graeme McDowell and Jason Kokrak. He has five individual wins in the league, second behind only Joaquin Niemann.
