2025 Women's British Open prize money payouts include a record $1,462,500 to Miyu Yamashita
Beth Ann NicholsMiyu Yamashita can splurge for her birthday after earning a paycheck of $1,462,500 at the AIG Women's British Open. One day after celebrating her 24th birthday with her worst round of the week, Yamashita was covered in champagne on Sunday with a breakthrough performance at Royal Porthcawl.
The 2025 AIG Women's British Open purse has tripled since AIG first partnered with the R&A, and the $9.75 million prize fund is up $250,000 from last year.
Japan's Yamashita held off a charging Charley Hull in Wales with a final-round 70 to finish 11 under for the tournament. She clipped Hull and compatriot Minami Katsu each by two shots.
The LPGA has had a record 21 different winners in 2025 with no repeat winners. Japan now claims bookend majors in 2025, with Mao Saigo winning the Chevron Championship.

"To win such a historic tournament in front of all these amazing fans is such an incredible feeling," said Yamashita through the help of an interpreter, "and to have my family around me to have so much support from everyone here is just amazing. To be part of such a moment in history is something very, very special."
