PGA Tour star's first solo course design opens in Florida
Glynlea County Club, a new public-access golf course designed by 17-time PGA Tour winner Jim Furyk, opened this month in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The course is part of a Wylder master-planned, 560-acre community being developed by GreenPointe Holdings that will include a slate of recreational activities and a variety of homes that range from the $400,000s to more than $1 million.
The 18-hole course opened Nov. 7 and features an aquatic range with Toptracer technology. The par-72 layout has five par 5s and five par 3s, and it will be managed by Hampton Golf.
“I’ve played all over the world and have seen a variety of golf course styles,” Furyk, winner of the 2003 U.S. Open who served as a consultant on other courses but did his first full design at Glynlea, said in a media release announcing the opening. “At Glynlea, I wanted to design something that’s both beautiful and playable – a course that challenges seasoned golfers while welcoming beginners and families to enjoy the game together.”
