Quintero, Arizona's No. 2-ranked public-access course, re-opens after a Rees Jones renovation
Todd KellyThe No. 2 public-access golf course in Arizona has reopened after a multi-million dollar renovation project, the first major work done on the course since it opened 25 years ago.
Quintero Golf Club, in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria, was closed for five months this summer. Rees Jones, the original course architect, oversaw all the work.
“We are so excited to have RJI and Total Turf involved in this project with the primary focus on making Quintero Golf Club even better than before,” Quintero's GM Mike Poe said ahead of the renovation.

The renovation included a rebuilding of all 18 greens, which were resurfaced with 007XL Bentgrass, which is known to be drought tolerant and disease resistant. In addition, greenside irrigation was redone and modernized. Further, all tee boxes were laser-leveled and regrown with a new 419 Bermuda grass.
The bunkers were all re-done as well, with all 65 of them renovated with new drainage, new bunker liners and new Augusta white sand.
The course's practice facility was also enhanced with the leveling and resurfacing of the turf and that same 007XL Bentgrass applied to the practice greens.
Quintero didn't stop there. The courses nine stay-and-play units were also renovated with updated accomodations, including refreshed kitchens and bathrooms, new floors and paint as well as new furniture.
Quintero, a Troon managed propery, is a par-72 course that tips out at 7,249 yards. The course reopened Nov. 1, just in time for the cooler temperatures in the Phoenix area.
