LPGA major champion Georgia Hall will welcome first child in New Year
Beth Ann NicholsWhen Georgia Hall returns to the site of her major championship triumph next summer, she'll do so with a bigger title than past champion. She'll return as a mom.
The 29-year-old Englishwoman recently announced her pregnancy on the official website of the AIG Women's Open. She's due to give birth to a son in early 2026 and plans to return to the tour in late June. Hall announced her engagement to Irish golfer Paul Dunne in July. Dunne, who caddied for Hall this year on the LPGA, won the 2017 British Masters by three strokes over Rory McIlroy.
In 2018, Hall won the Ricoh Women's British Open at Royal Lytham & Annes, where the championship returns in 2026 for its 50th edition. Catriona Matthew famously won the British at Royal Lytham in 2009 — 11 weeks after giving birth to her second child.
"Obviously, I've heard a lot about Catriona Matthew coming back and winning [at Lytham] as well, which is quite funny,” said Hall in an interview with R&A officials.
“It's just incredible what she achieved. It's nice that she did that because … I can think similar, like, it can be done."
Hall, a two-time winner on the LPGA, tied for 19th at the British Open at Porthcawl in August and then shut it down for the rest of the season.
"For me to come back here where I won in 2018 at Royal Lytham & Annes, it’s very special and I don’t want to miss it for numerous reasons," Hal told the R&A. "That’s been my main focus of why I’m coming back so soon. And obviously have a lot more support on the sidelines."
