Titleist’s limited-edition Vokey 64 T Grind is beautiful, but not for the faint of heart
Titleist’s new limited-edition 64-degree T Grind wedge is versatile but built for golfers with the skill to handle its demanding design.
David DusekEvery now and then, Titleist’s Vokey WedgeWorks division releases something that feels less like a golf club and more like a dare, and the latest drop fits that description perfectly. It’s a limited-edition 64-degree T Grind lob wedge finished in Black Vapor, armed with just 4 degrees of bounce.
It’s gorgeous. It’s extreme. And in the hands of the wrong golfer, which, if we’re honest, includes most of us, it might be the fastest path to a snowman this side of Alaska.

Vokey’s T Grind has long been trusted by elite players like Russell Henley, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth because it lets the leading edge stay tight to the turf when the face is opened and helps the sole glide through firm ground. The grind has been available in the SM10 family with 58 and 60 degrees of loft, but pairing it with 64 degrees of loft turns the effect up even higher. The narrow sole and the aggressive relief around the heel, toe and trailing edge help the wedge slip under the ball, but they demand a disciplined delivery.
Aaron Dill, Titleist’s PGA Tour representative for Vokey wedges, describes the grind as something that “frees the golfer up” on tight lies and firm conditions. He’s right, but he’s also talking about players whose shallow entries and precise contact are part of their job description.

The appeal of this wedge is easy to understand. It’s a Vokey. It’s beautifully finished. And the Black Vapor treatment, along with the smudge-resistant FPP coating, gives it the kind of sleek look that wouldn’t feel out of place in a spy movie. Golfers are drawn to possibility, too — the idea that with the right swing and the right club, we might pull off that parachuting flop that lands as softly as a raindrop. The 64 T Grind keeps that dream alive, even if the reality sometimes includes a bladed rocket that doesn’t stop until it crosses into the next ZIP code.
There’s nothing wrong with admiring a club like this without feeling the need to put it in play. Equipment can be aspirational, technically impressive, even inspiring in the right hands. The WedgeWorks 64 T Grind fits that description exactly. Available in right-handed loft only, it retails for $275 while supplies last. Some golfers will discover it’s precisely what they want. Many others will simply enjoy seeing it in the wild, much like spotting a cherry-red Ferrari in the grocery store parking lot. It’s a reminder of what’s possible, even if not all of us are meant to take the wheel.
