The new, forged 4340M stainless steel face in the P·790 irons is stronger than previously used materials, so TaylorMade could make the hitting area thinner and lighter, which enlarges the sweet spot.

TaylorMade thinned the topline of the P·790 irons for 2025.

The TaylorMade's P·790 irons 4-iron through 7-iron have a slot in the sole that allows the lower portion of the hitting area to flex and perform better on thin-struck shots.

SpeedFoam Air is injected into the TaylorMade's P·790 irons through the toe, which is then covered by a screw. For 2025, designers beveled the leading edge of the mid- and short irons to make it easier to create solid contact.
