DREXEL

A coach I always hoped to see move up to a higher level has decided to retire. Drexel head coach Ben Feld will step away from collegiate coaching after leading the Dragons for the last nine seasons."You don't have to dig far to see the competitive impact Ben Feld leadership has had on our men's golf program," said Vice President, Director of Athletics & Recreation Maisha Kelly. "The team has thrived, achieving top 100 rankings, finishing third or higher on several occasions in CAA championships, and maintaining a presence as one of the best golf programs in the City. Ben's passion for Drexel, having been a member of the men's golf team during his undergraduate years and even serving as a manager for the men's basketball team, permeated throughout his career.

Feld was named Drexel's head coach in May of 2016. He took over the program after serving as the team's interim coach prior to his promotion. Feld's teams have won 19 events since he took over."It has been the honor of a lifetime getting to lead my alma mater for the past nine seasons as its head coach," said Feld. "I'm incredibly proud of what we have built and accomplished, grateful for the relationships that have developed, and forever indebted to the student-athletes who poured their hearts and souls into our mission and represented our program with such integrity and class throughout the years. The timing is right for me to step away. As time has become more and more valuable, I found myself spread very thin. While Jess has remained endlessly open and supportive, I don't want to miss milestones or lose the opportunity to make memories with her and our daughter, Leila. I know I can no longer give the blood that this program requires and deserves. I firmly believe that the program's brightest days are ahead."There will be a national search for Drexel's next golf coach.
