Field is announced for the sixth PGA Tour signature event of 2025, the Truist Championship

Formerly known as the Wells Fargo Championship, the Truist Championship is next on tap. An event that's normally played at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, the 2025 edition of the Truist will be staged on the Wissahickon Course at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown, Pennsylvania, May 8-11.
It was announced in December of 2023 that Wells Fargo was ending its sponsorship after the 2024 tournament. In August of 2024, Truist was announced as the new title sponsor.

Rory McIlroy is the tournament's defending champion. He's won three times since then, including the 2025 Players and 2025 Masters. He appeared in the team event at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last week, but the Truist will be his first individual event since winning the green jacket.

There are eight signature events on the schedule in 2025. The Truist is one of five that will not have a cut. It's also the sixth of those eight signature events.

McIlroy is the headliner in the field of 72, but when the PGA Tour announced the field Friday, only 68 names were listed. The tournament website indicated who got the sponsor invitations: Rickie Fowler, Keith Mitchell, Jordan Spieth and Gary Woodland.
