PGA Tour Champions announces schedule for 2026 featuring two new events, five majors

PGA Tour Champions is ramping up for what could potentially be a big 2026, the year that Tiger Woods is eligible to play. On Tuesday, the 50-and-over circuit announced its schedule for next season, which features 28 events and will conclude at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Phoenix.

The 25-event regular season will welcome two new tournaments: the Portugal Invitational in Algarve, Portugal, and the Jefferson Lehigh Valley Classic in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

“We are thrilled to be adding new events in Portugal and Pennsylvania to an existing schedule highlighted by tremendous title sponsors in many markets which have become staples of Champions Tour golf,” said PGA Tour Champions President Miller Brady. “The incredible play we’ve seen from some of the game’s legends this season is sure to continue in 2026, and we are looking forward to building on that continued momentum for our partners and fans.”

In total, Champions Tour golfers will visit 18 states and four other countries (Morocco, Scotland, Portugal, Canada). The 2026 season will have players competing for more than $69 million in total prize money, a slight increase from the record-setting purse total this year. Woods isn’t the only newcomer eligible to compete Other players turning 50 in the next 12 months include Zach Johnson, Rory Sabbatini, Ben Crane, Ryan Palmer and others.

The 2026 season will begin with the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai the week of Jan. 21-24 (Saturday finish) in Ka’upulehu-Kona, Hawaii, marking the 30th consecutive year that PGA Tour Champions has started the season at Hualalai Golf Course. Newport Beach Country Club in Newport Beach, California (March 27-29), also returns for the 30th year.

After rotating annually since 2001, the PGA of America announced earlier this year that the Senior PGA Championship would be contested at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida, over the next three years. Concession, which previously held a World Golf Championship and Skechers World Champions Cup Supporting Shriners Children’s, will host the first senior major of the 2026 season the week of April 16-19.

New for 2026, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic in Duluth, Georgia (April 24-26) will be contested in Stableford Scoring, a system which involves scoring points based on the number of strokes taken on each hole.

The Champions tour will return to Morocco for the Trophy Hassan II at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat (May 21-24), marking the first international event of the season and the first time the tournament has been contested outside the month of February. The event, which was founded as a DP World Tour tournament, will celebrate its 50th all-time playing in 2026. Other anniversaries include the 10th anniversary of the American Family Insurance Championship in Madison, Wisconsin (June 5-7), which will again feature the Tour’s only two-man team format, while the Dick's Open celebrates its 20th anniversary in Endicott, New York the week of June 26-28.

Back-to-back major championships will be held starting with the U.S. Senior Open, to be played at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, the week of July 2-5, while theKaulig Companies Championship returns to Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, the following week, July 9-12.

The ISPS Handa Senior Open returns to Gleneagles in Scotland for the first time since 2022 and will be played July 23-26. The event will mark a two-week stretch of PGA Tour Champions golf in Europe, as the Portugal Invitational, hosted by World Golf Hall of Fame member Ernie Els, makes its debut the week of July 30-Aug. 2 at The Els Club Vilamoura in Algarve, Portugal. 

The second new event of the 2026 season, the Jefferson Lehigh Valley Classic, will make its debut at Lehigh Country Club in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 4. The penultimate event of the regular season come in October, with the Constellation Furyk & Friends being played for the first time at Hammock Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Palm Coast, Florida, Oct. 9-11. The regular-season finale is the SAS Championship, Oct. 16-18.

The 25-event regular season will lead into the 10th Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs, which begin at the Stifel Charity Classic as the Tour’s St. Louis stop, kicking off the postseason for the first time in its history, Oct. 23-25.  The second playoff event will be the Simmons Bank Championship in Little Rock, Arkansas, Oct. 30-Nov. 1 and the finale is once again the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Phoenix, Nov. 12-15.
