Mason Howell wins 2025 U.S. Amateur

The match is over. Mason Howell defeats Jackson Herrington 7 and 6 to win the 125th U.S. Amateur.

Match is dormie

After matching pars, Mason Howell is dormie, going 7 up with seven holes to play.

Howell maintains lead

Howell goes 7 up with 9 to play

Mason Howell is well on his way to being a U.S. Amateur champion. He make par on the ninth, and Herrington makes bogey after missing the fairway, and the lead is 7 with nine to go.

Howell bounces back again

Jackson Herrington has won four holes in the championship match, and Mason Howell has followed all of those up with a win of his own. He wins the 25th and goes back 6 up with 11 to play.

Herrington gets one back

A hole after Jackson Herrington should've went 7 down, he now wins the 24th with a par and he's only five down heading to the drivable 25th.

Herrington gets a break

Mason Howell had a putt to go 7 up with 13 to go, but he misses he short par putt on the 23rd hole. On to the next hole.

Howell wins another hole

Jackson Herrington hits it into trouble on the 21st hole and is unable to get on the green with his first chip shot. Meanwhile, Howell finds the green and has a comfy two putt to go 6 up. There are 15 holes to go, and Howell looks like your eventual champion.

Howell wins 19th, goes 5 up

Mason Howell finds the fairway and then hits it to 20 feet and makes par, which again is better than Herrington's bogey after driving it right into the rough off the tee. He moves back to 5 up, tying the largest lead of the match.

Can Herrington rally in afternoon?

Last year, Noah Kent was four down to Josele Ballester after the first 18 holes before he holed a chip shot on the 19th hole to begin his comeback. He continued to fight and earned his way to the 36th hole facing a deficit, but Ballester was able to hang on.

Herrington has to have a better front nine, the difficult side of the golf course, than he did in the morning. Howell needs to play even-par golf, but Herrington has to capitalize on any and all mistakes Howell might make.

First 18 stats

Play will resume at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT).
