Sunday was a significant milestone for 10 golfers on the DP World Tour, but perhaps no achievement was bigger than the one Laurie Canter accomplished.

Canter was one of 10 players, not otherwise exempt, to earn their PGA Tour card via the DP World Tour's season-ending Race to Dubai rankings. The 36-year-old Englishman has made 15 starts on the PGA Tour, but next year he wll play on the circuit full-time. It's also a full-circle moment for Canter, who a year ago was suspended from the PGA Tour due to his affiliation with LIV Golf.

He played for LIV Golf each of the league's first three seasons, first as a founding member of Cleeks GC in 2022 then as a reserve in 2023. He then competed in LIV Golf's first two events of 2024 in Mexico and Mayakoba before moving to play primarily a DP World Tour schedule last year.

Canter played so well, in fact, he earned a spot in the 2025 Players Championship because of his spot in the Official World Golf Ranking. When he teed it up at TPC Sawgrass, Canter became the first former LIV player to compete in a strictly PGA Tour event (non-major or non-co-sanctioned event). He missed the cut that week but went on to play all four majors in 2025, the Genesis Scottish Open and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Canter finished seventh in the Race to Dubai rankings, behind only Marco Penge as players who didn't have PGA Tour membership.

Of players who have previously earned PGA Tour membership via the DP World Tour, a few have had success, including Robert MacIntyre, Matthieu Pavon and more. MacIntyre has two wins and has been on the last two victorious European Ryder Cup teams. Pavon won his third start as a full-time member.

Now, it's Canter's turn to see if he can become the first former LIV golfer to earn a trophy on the PGA Tour.
