RI Capitol Police recruit who died identified. What we know.

A 27-year-old Providence man, Kyron Lopes, died after being taken away from a training exercise for the state's Capitol Police in an ambulance, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

Lopes, who was a recruit of the Capitol Police, was taken to the hospital on Dec. 23 and he passed away on Dec. 25, state police Capt. Marc Alboum said in a news release sent on Friday, Jan. 2.

An investigation into the death continues and the results of tests performed by the medical examiner are pending, Alboum said.

"We share our deepest condolences with the loved ones of Capitol Police Recruit Lopes," he added.
