Picks, best bets and odds for the 2025 WM Phoenix Open, the PGA Tour's party on grass
Riley HamelLet the beers flow and boos roar because the PGA Tour is in Scottsdale for the WM Phoenix Open this week, the league's biggest party of the year. Despite being sandwiched between two signature events, the game's best have made their way to the desert, including two-time winner Scottie Scheffler.
Scheffler returned from injury at Pebble Beach, ranking first in Strokes Gained: Approach and finishing T-9. Not bad for the world No. 1. He'll be joined on Thursday by Justin Thomas, Tom Kim, Sahith Theegala, Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and Max Homa, among others. Defending champion Nick Taylor, who won earlier this season at the Sony Open in Hawaii, returns hoping to go back-to-back.
Sunday's victor will earn $1.656 million of the $9.2 million purse and 500 FedEx Cup points.
Now, let's pick a winner.

WM Phoenix Open: Picks to win
Sam Burns

Odds: 25/1
Analysis: In three starts this season, Burns has finished T-8 (The Sentry), T-29 (The American Express) and T-22 (AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am). The Louisiana native has loved him some TPC Scottsdale over the last two years, grabbing a share of sixth in 2023 and third in 2024. Burns is third in greens in regulation and 21st in SG: Putting this season, a great combination for a tournament where the winning score usually hovers around 20 under.
Tom Kim

Odds: 30/1
Analysis: Tom Kim bounced back from a missed cut at The American Express nicely with a T-7 finish at last week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Now he heads to a tournament where he grabbed a share of 17th in 2024. The 22-year-old is 14th in proximity, so he'll have plenty of makeable birdie looks this week.
Si Woo Kim

Odds: 60/1
Analysis: Si Woo Kim has missed two cuts in five starts this season, but something seemed to click with his game at Pebble Beach. He finished the week solo 12th and how heads to the WMPO where he's improved his finish each of the last four seasons: T-50 (2021), T-26 (2022), T-23 (2023) and T-12 (2024). Kim is a little volatile, but I like him at this track.
