Two-time Zurich Classic winner Billy Horschel withdraws from 2025 event

Billy Horschel has withdrawn from the 2025 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, it was announced Wednesday. No reason was given for his WD.

Horschel is the only player to win the event as an individual and on a team. The Zurich switched to a team format in 2017, with Horschel taking home the team title with Scott Piercy in 2018 and winning individually in 2013.

The eight-time PGA Tour winner has a mixed bag of results in his recent starts. He tied for fourth at the Valspar Championship and tied for 27th last week at the RBC Heritage while missing the cut at the Masters. He sits 52nd in the FexEx Cup standings this season, making the weekend in seven of his 12 starts.

First alternate Kevin Chappell is taking Horschel's spot and will pair with Tom Hoge.

Horschel was at TPC Louisiana on Wednesday, sitting next to PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan during an announcement that Zurich had signed on as sponsor of the event through 2030.

"As I've said many a times, there's a lot of great sponsors on the PGA Tour, but I don't think there's a better one than Zurich in the sense of what they do here in New Orleans and then what I do with them away from here with their customers and clients," Horschel said. "Their executives love coming down here, being a part of the community, giving back."
