Owen Wilson takes a swing at redemption in new golf comedy 'Stick'
Averee DovsekOwen Wilson is set to star in "Stick," a new Apple TV+ comedy about a washed-up golf professional trying to reclaim his game and his life. The series, created by Jason Keller, premieres this summer and features Judy Greer as Wilson’s sharp-witted ex-wife.
Golfweek had the chance to speak with Wilson and Greer ahead of the release. Wilson, an avid golfer offscreen, said the role was an easy fit. He humorously shared his recent golf struggles in Australia where he’s been fighting with his game.
Greer admitted she’s mostly dabbled in mini golf but said the dynamic between the two personalities made the show a blast.
"Stick" follows Wilson’s character as he navigates personal and golf challenges, finding unexpected second chances on and off the course. The show’s tone is supposed to be inspiring, yet comical.
With Keller’s writing, he hopes the show brings a fresh comedic take on the sport with plenty of laughs and the hopes of growing the game.
