It's the final chance for three golfers not already in the British Open to get into the field for Royal Portrush next week. But for many others, Friday at the Genesis Scottish Open was a day to secure Saturday and Sunday tee times.

The cut officially came in after Friday's second round at around 7:25 p.m. local time. There is a five-hour time difference between Scotland and the East Coast.

What was the cut at the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open?

The PGA Tour cut rule is the low 65 and ties make the weekend. This week at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, the cut was 1 under. This compares to a 3-under cut in the 2024 Scottish Open.

There were 16 golfers who made the cut on the number in 2025, including defending champion Robert MacIntyre, Justin Thomas, Padraig Harrington, Corey Conners, Daniel Berger, Si Woo Kim and Ben An.

J.J. Spaun plays his second shot on the 13th hole during the second round of the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club.

Daniel Berger's double on final hole leaves him in limbo

If Daniel Berger doesn't make the cut at the Scottish, it will have been some heartache on his final hole that did him in. Berger was 3 under heading into No. 9 (he started the day on the back), but he found a bunker on the par-3 and then knocked one over the green before chipping back and two-putting. The double puts him at 1 under and while he's still right on the cut line, there's a decent chance the number moves to 2 under.

After a great opening to the 2025 season in which he finished in the top 25 in nine of his first dozen starts, Berger has failed to crack the top 40 in his last four events, and has missed two cuts in the process.

What is the cut for the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open?

There was no official projected cut after 18 holes on the PGA Tour website, the cut rule calls for the low 65 and ties to advance. Based on that, the cut would be 1 under.

Using the predictive modeling of Datagolf.com, however, after 18 holes:

  • 1 under has a 16 percent chance
  • 2 under is at just above 40 percent
  • 3 under is 32 percent

The cut in 2024 was 3 under.

J.J. Spaun needs a big second nine

Reigning U.S. Open champ J.J. Spaun is a few shots off the projected cut line as of 8:30 a.m. on Friday. He's at 2 over and the projected cut is 1 under. He'll need a good number on the second nine (he started on the back today) to make the cut.
