How did Charlie Woods fare in the third round of the 49th Junior PGA Championships?

Charlie Woods continued to pile up birdies to enter the clubhouse tied for second place after the third round of the 49th Junior PGA Championships.

Woods, a rising junior at the Benjamin School and son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, shot 5-under 66 in the third round on Thursday in West Lafayette, Indiana.

He is 12 under and seven shots back of leader Lunden Esterline upon finishing his round.

After carding nine birdies in Wednesday's second round, Woods continued his pin-seeking ways on Thursday to secure a place in Friday's final round. The tournament had a cut to the low 30 and ties after the third round.

Woods, 16, carded eight birdies in the third round, helping him to overcome four bogeys and keep pace with Esterline.

The Junior PGA Championships are comprised of two 72-hole stroke play tournaments for boys and girls junior amateur golfers. This year's boys and girls tournaments each featured 156 golfers, respectively.
