Alexa Pano rallies, cut line remains at 2 over
Alexa Pano knew she needed to make something happen. A birdie on the par-4 17th moved her to 2 over for the championship, right on the cut line. The American followed a 69 with a 77 but will play on this weekend.
"The conditions were really brutal today," she said, "and I kind of knew that going in. Even worse than I expected."
Alexa Pano needs a strong finish
After opening with a 3-under 69 at AIG Women's British Open, American Alexa Pano saw everything go wrong early on Friday. A front-nine 41 meant she'd need to get something going on the back nine. Currently 3 over with two to play, she'll likely need a birdie on the reachable par-5 18th to play the weekend.
Brooke Henderson fighting to stay on cut line at Women's British Open

Brooke Henderson has flirted with the cut line all day and currently sits right on it at 2 over with two to play. A double on the 10th and a bogey on 11 put her at 3 over for the day. She's made a string of pars to hold steady on the line.
2022 AIG champion Ashleigh Buhai fist-pumped her way to a spot in the weekend with a birdie on the last to get to 2 over. Her second-round 73 included a double and an eagle.
Cut line moves to 2 over at the Women's British Open
As conditions continue to prove testy this afternoon at Porthcawl, the cut line has once again moved down. Now at 2 over, at least for now, it gives names like Lydia Ko, Stacy Lewis and Celine Boutier hope for the weekend.
The scoring average has risen two strokes so in the afternoon so far.
"Players at 3 over may have already left," said host Tom Abbott. "They might want to come back."
The dropping cut line also gives a bigger cushion for Yani Tseng, the five-time major champion who hasn't made a cut in a major since 2017. Tseng missed the weekend at the 2025 U.S. Women's Open by one shot. She's currently 1 over through 4 holes.
Cut line moves to 1 over at Women's British Open
At 10:45 a.m. ET, the cut line now sits at 1 over. Charley Hull is among the big names who sit right on the line, along with recent major winner Grace Kim.
After a terrific opening 69, In Gee Chun shot 4 over and moved to 1 over for the championship. A victory this week would give Chun her fourth different major title, which the LPGA recognizes as having achieved the career grand slam.
Lilia Vu's struggles continue at Porthcawl

A second-round 77 plummeted the 2023 AIG champion down the board to 7 over par, well outside the current cut line of even par. Vu, who has struggled with a back injury for most of 2024, has now missed the cut in her last four major starts.
Lydia Ko played alongside Vu and finished at 2 over for the tournament. Afternoon winds might push the cut line to 1 over, but 2 over might be asking for too much.
Lydia Ko moves to wrong side of cut line

Three consecutive bogeys for the defending champion moves Lydia Ko to 2 over for the championship and two outside the current cut line of even par. She has two holes left to play on a windy and chilly afternoon in Bridgend.
Long way to go before the cut at Royal Porthcawl
At nearly noon local time, the cut line for the championship sits at even par. Frenchwoman Paula Roussin-Bouchard carded a tidy 3-under 69 to sit at 1 over of the tournament and will have to wait this afternoon to see if the cut line moves with the wind.
Charley Hull (+1) is among those outside the cut who have yet to tee off for Round 2. Other notables include Maja Stark and Ruoning Yin at 2 over and Lauren Coughlin, Yuka Saso and Hinako Shibuno at 3 over. Those at 6 over include Jin Young Ko, Yealimi Noh and Jennifer Kupcho.
