Wyndham Championship cut line tracker: Rickie Fowler survives; Keith Mitchell 'heartbreak'
It's crunch time at the 2025 Wyndham Championship. Time is also running out for those grinding to make the top 70 in the FedEx Cup points race, as only the top 70 (down from 100) make the postseason.
The 36-hole cut didn't come Friday night due to inclement weather, specifically lightning in and around the Greensboro, North Carolina, area, so the second round had to be completed on Saturday. Seventy-five players still have a chance to hoist the trophy as the cut held up at 3-under 137.

Notable golfers who missed the cut at the Wyndham Championship
Here are some notable names who will not play the final two rounds in Greensboro:
- Adam Hadwin (2 under)
- Keith Mitchell (2 under)
- Si Woo Kim (2 under)
- Jake Knapp (1 under)
- Keegan Bradley (Even)
- Ryan Gerard (1 over)
- Nick Dunlap (2 over)
- Sahith Theegala (6 over)
Rickie Fowler survives to play weekend
Rickie Fowler snuck inside the cut line on the number at 3 under with a round of 2-under 68 in the second round. He opened with three consecutive birdies on holes 3-5, but stumbled on the back nine with bogeys at Nos. 14 and 18. Still, he managed to seal a weekend appearance in Greensboro, which will help his FedEx Cup standing.
Bubble bursts for Keith Mitchell
The tournament within the tournament at the Wyndham Championship is part of what makes this week so great at Sedgefield Country Club. On Saturday morning, Keith Mitchell, who entered the week at No. 72 in the FedEx Cup and needed no worse than a T-27 to finish inside the top 70 and qualify for the FedEx St. Jude Championship, had four holes left to play in his second round when play was suspended on Friday due to dangerous weather conditions. He was 4 under and straddling the cutline until he took four putts from 49 feet and made double bogey at 15 to drop to the wrong side of the cutline. Mitchell had to be deflated but he went down swinging, making a 10-foot birdie at 17. It turned out that 3 under would have been enough to make the cut. Did he think he needed one more birdie to be safe? Probably but he declined to speak to the media after the round. Mitchell drove into the left rough at 18 and had to layup short of the green. He wedged to 7 feet but missed the do-or-die par putt. He signed for even-par 70 and a 2-under 138 total. One stroke too many and that seals his fate — no playoffs for Mitchell.

Davis Thompson is the current 'bubble boy' in the playoff chase
As of Friday night, Davis Thompson is in the 70th spot in the FedEx points race. Only the top 70 make the postseason and Thompson, for now, is up eight spots. Clearly this is a huge development for him, if it holds, for him to extend his season. Here's a look at the last five in/first five out as end of play Friday night:
| Pos. | Player |
|---|---|
| 66 | Chris Kirk |
| 67 | Gary Woodland |
| 68 | Erik van Rooyen |
| 69 | Emiliano Grillo |
| 70 | Davis Thompson |
| 71 | Cam Davis |
| 72 | Christiaan Bezuidenhout |
| 73 | Matti Schmid |
| 74 | Keith Mitchell |
| 75 | Byeong Hun An |
Rickie Fowler flirting with the cut, flirting with FedEx Cup Playoffs
Fowler shot 69-68 at Sedgefield and is at 3 under overall. If the datagolf.com projection of 4 under holds (it's getting a 79 percent chance of being the number), Fowler would miss the cut by a single stroke.
Beyond that, Fowler us 64th (as of 2:44 p.m. ET) in the projected FedEx Cup Playoffs standings. Only the top 70 make the playoffs and if Fowler misses the Wyndham weekend, he'll be at the mercy of others to some degree.
As afternoon rounds tee off, projected cut is 4 under
At 1:30 p.m. ET, and still several groups having yet teed off, datagolf.com is projecting a 4 under cut, giving that number an 83 percent chance. At 14 percent is 3 under. If it comes in at 4 under, these golfers would be on the wrong side (but again, there's a lot of golf left):
- Rasmus Hojgaard, 3 under (F)
- Nicolai Hojgaard, 3 under (F)
- Rickie Fowler, 3 under (F)
- Akshay Bhatia, 3 under (through 3 holes)
- Max Homa, 3 under (through 2 holes)
What about those hovering around the top 70 for the FedEx Cup Playoffs?
The tournament-within-the-tournament is the chase to make the top 70. Used to be the top 100 made the playoffs but new in 2025 is that only the top 70 do. So while we're tracking the cut, we're also looking at who is in danger of not making the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
| Pos. | Golfer |
| 68 | Emiliano Grillo |
| 69 | Cam Davis |
| 70 | Patrick Rodgers |
| 71 | Christiaan Bezuidenhout |
| 72 | Chris Kirk |
| 73 | Byeong Hun An |
Rasmus Hojgaard going the wrong way
Starting on Friday morning at 82nd in the FedEx Cup standings and at 1 under, Rasmus Højgaard needs a big day on Friday to not only make the weekend, but then have a chance to make the playoffs.
Things have not gone well. Højgaard started the day on No. 10 with a bogey, followed with a birdie, but then made another bogey on 13 before really watching the wheels fall off on No. 14 when he missed the green on his second shot of a par 4 and then three-putted from 20 feet for a double. As of 8:15 a.m., he's even for the tournament and in real trouble.
Update 8 a.m.: Cut likely to come at 3 or 4 under
To start the day, the official projected cut line is 2 under, but expect that to move throughout the day, with it either landing on 3 or 4 under.
Update 8 p.m. (Thu.): What's projected cut at 2025 Wyndham?
In 2024, the cut came in at 4 under, but the 36-hole cut didn't come until Sunday due to inclement weather earlier in the week. Here in 2025, the cut as of 8 p.m. on Thursday night, is projected to be 4 under, according to datagolf. The PGA Tour cut rules state that the low 65 and ties after 36 holes advance.
