Price: $39.99 per dozen

Specs: Two-piece, ionomer-covered golf balls. Available in white, yellow and green. Pink is coming in July.

Available: January 24

Who It's For: Golfers who want soft feel, distance off the tee and spin around the greens at a less-than-premium price.

The Skinny: A massive core helps this two-piece ball deliver more ball speed and distance along with a soft feel.

The Deep Dive: Golf ball makers often refer to the core of a ball as the engine, the thing that helps it turn your clubhead speed into ball speed and distance. If that's the case, the Titleist Tour Soft is packing a monster V12 because, once again, this two-piece ball has been made with the largest core in the Titleist golf ball lineup. That means for players who want more distance, it is a ball they should consider.

Like many recently-released Titleist balls, including the 2023 Pro V1 and Pro V1x, the updated Tour Soft has a gradational core. That means the inner portion of the core is very soft, but the core material gets progressively firmer toward the perimeter. The result is more effective energy transfer, which should translate to more distance.

The Tour Soft has a large, fast core. (Titleist)

Over the core, Titleist has designed an ultra-thin ionomer cover with a 346-dimple pattern that helps the Tour Soft hold its line more effectively in windy conditions.

The cover material, which Titleist refers to as Fusablend, differs from the hard ionomers put over the top of distance balls sold at budget prices. Titleist has added materials to the ionomer to soften it so it can be easily grabbed by wedge and short-iron grooves. Does it provide the same level of greenside spin that the urethane-covered Pro V1 and Pro V1x balls? No. However, Titleist claims that it performs better than harder ionomer covers on the market.
