No. 2 recruit Scarlett Schremmer signs with Miami after leaving Texas A&M
Scarlett Schremmer has found her new home.
The No. 2 recruit in the 2025 class signed with Miami on Wednesday to continue her college golf career, coming on the heels of her decision to leave Texas A&M earlier this fall.
Schremmer was originally committed to the Hurricanes before eventually signing with Aggies. The late Jimmy Buffett was a close family friend and supporter of Schremmer, and she wanted to live close to him before he died.
"I didn't really realize how popular he was until he actually passed away," Schremmer told Golfweek. "He was light-hearted, didn't take himself too seriously. He was a bad golfer, I'm going to be honest. And he was not a very good surfer. But he brought a lot of joy to both games, and I think that sums up who he was."
Schremmer tied for 23rd in her only stroke-play start in the Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach and then went 2-1 during the NB3 Match Play event in October. She then left the program, telling Golfweek, "I’m focusing on my academics and continuing to develop my game. My goal to be the best golfer I can be remains the same. I’m excited for what the future holds."
Due to NCAA transfer rules, she'll have to sit out the spring semester but will be eligible to play beginning with the 2026-27 season. This season, Miami won the White Sands Invitational and is ranked 67th in the NCAA golf rankings.
Schremmer, whose journey from surfer to top amateur golfer helped her rise in popularity, made match play in the 2025 U.S. Women's Amateur at Bandon Dunes. She also won the Alabama Women's State Amateur earlier this summer and made the cut at the Augusta National Women's Amateur, placing 25th.
She joins a Miami class that includes Kai Trump, the eldest granddaughter of President Donald Trump. The 2026 signing class for the Hurricanes also includes Bella Dovhey and Carlee Rogers.
